The Berchtesgaden area offers a great variety of sports facilities. Hiking and climbing are always very popular in the summer. There are also some activities for venturous people like rafting, canyoning and paragliding.
You can of course also go swimming in the heatened outdoor swimming pools and enjoy tropical temperatures. When it rains, you might visit the so called Watzmann therme it’s an indoor swimming pool with a lot of spa and activity area.
You can enjoy fine winter sun while cross-country skiing. For all alpin sportsmen there are sports facilities like the artificial snow pistes of the German national skiing association on the Götschen Mountain, famous for the snowboard world championship.
There are also some possibilities for ice skating, ice climbing, winter hiking or having a trip in a one horse sleigh through the country.
